Why did it make sense for Daunte Culpepper to land in Oakland?

After carefully sorting through his options as a free agent, Culpepper agreed to a one-year contract with the Raiders. Not only is this a great fit for Culpepper, but it gives the Raiders the quarterback that they had targeted at the beginning of the offseason. When healthy and surrounded by talented skill players, Culpepper is a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback. His struggles over the past two seasons made many forget his spectacular 2004 season (4,710 passing yards with 39 touchdowns and 11 interceptions), but his natural ability makes him a worthwhile gamble. If he regains his form, Culpepper would give the Raiders a quality starting quarterback and allow them to slowly groom JaMarcus Russell for the starting job.
